What Whetū is

Whetū is a practice tool for NCEA Level 1 Science, operated byWhetū Labs. It gives you exam-style questions, compares your answers with each question’s NCEA-style marking schedule using AI, and coaches you to improve. It is a study aid - it is not affiliated with NZQA, and estimated grades here are not official NCEA results.

AI marking has limits

Our marking is honest and usually close, but this is an AI estimate. Your teacher’s judgement is final. Treat grades and feedback as a guide, and if something looks wrong, ask your teacher.

Your account

• Keep your password to yourself.
• One account per person; your progress belongs to you.
• If you’re under 16, make sure a parent or caregiver is okay with you using Whetū - and any payment must be made by them.

Subscriptions

Paid access is one Whetū plan, billed monthly or yearly in NZD through our payment provider, and can be cancelled any time - you keep access until the end of the billing period. Payments must be made by an adult (a parent, caregiver, or tutor). We never see or store card numbers.

Fair use

Don’t script, scrape, resell, or hammer the service; daily limits on the free plan exist so it stays free. Don’t submit answers that are abusive or that aren’t yours to share.
